15. Attack Of The Crappy CGI - The Divergent Series: Insurgent
The Moment: In the middle of a nightmare, protagonist Tris (Shailene Woodley) is desperately trying to save her dead mother Natalie (Ashley Judd) as the city around them crumbles and burns. Why It's Going To Suck: Because the effects are laughably sloppy. The above screenshot isn't some low-res image designed to emphasise the point: it's a screen grab from a 1080p trailer, but looks as blurry and garbled as a paused VHS. While it's entirely possible that the effects will look a little sharper by next month, it still suggests a rush-job sequel churning out sub-par effects in which basic physical movement of CGI characters looks totally off, and the screen looks like it's been rubbed with a family size tub of Vaseline. ...And The Rest Of The Movie?: The first movie wasn't exactly a hoot, so it's hard to expect much here. On the plus side, it's a whole 20 minutes shorter than Divergent, so should at least be a little less painful, and Octavia Spencer and Naomi Watts being added to the cast certainly classes things up. But still, it's probably going to suck for anyone who isn't a fan of the source material.
