15 Things You Didn't Know About Nicolas Cage

1. He's One Of The Most Charitable Celebrities In Hollywood

Cage may shell out astronomical sums of money on all manner of weird stuff (still puzzled by the dinosaur skull) but he's also very, very generous when it comes to donating to charity. We can all have a laugh at the star's eccentric behaviour but, at the end of the day, he has given millions of dollars of his own money to help those less fortunate than himself. You can't help but commend him for that, regardless of how you feel about him as a person or as an actor. He donated an impressive $2m to Amnesty International in 2006 and also donated a not-inconsiderable $1m to the victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He was the first artist to support ArtWorks, an organisation that was set up to raise awareness of workers rights and shed light on issues such as freedom and child labour laws. In 2009 he was given an award by the United Nations for his humanitarian endeavours. It's clear that behind all of the madness, Cage has a heart of gold.
