Without a doubt, the most well known moment from When Harry Met Sally is the fake orgasm scene. It’s the pinpoint which made the romantic comedy stand out from the rest for being hilarious, unexpected and genuinely thought provoking for the male demographic.

However, it was originally not in the script as Harry and Sally were merely going to talk about orgasms. Meg Ryan came up with idea and also suggested that it should be performed in a public place. Reiner loved the idea and it was written into the story. Furthermore, it was Billy Crystal who thought of the iconic “I’ll have what she’s having” line.

Meg had to repeatedly perform the scene over and over again but it was worth it as extras, cast members, crew and audiences all loved it. More importantly, it gave the movie the legendary status it needed.
