15 Truly Terrible Villainous Performances From Awesome Actors
11. Christoph Waltz - Spectre
Christoph Waltz does basically do the same performance in every movie, but he gets away with it thanks to his unique charisma and screen presence. He's usually good but his role in Spectre didn't work out so well.
Waltz's performance is OK but he was entirely let-down by the material. It's still surreal that such a strong villainous actor - one who'd won an Oscar for playing Inglorious Bastards' Hans Lauda, no less - was brought in for a role which equated a mere 25 minutes of screen-time. Waltz isn't given anything to do and his character makes little impact as a result.
Even worse, he's involved in a truly awful plot twist. Everyone knew perfectly well Franz Oberhauser was Blofeld and the revelation was painfully obvious. It also turned out he was Bond's stepbrother and hates him because his father paid more attention to Bond than him. So now the ultimate Bond supervillain is motivated by brotherly jealousy? Seriously?
Current reports indicate he won't be returning, most likely indicating that another actor will play Blofeld in Bond 25. That's probably a good thing to be honest.
