15 Unbelievably Hideous Horror Movie Sequels

6. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning

2003's Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake was the first of many terrible 2000s horror remakes and it was a thoroughly tedious affair, yet somehow this prequel makes the remake look like Citizen Kane.

Did anyone want a sequel to such a forgettable remake? No. Did anyone want or need an origin story for Leatherface? That's an even bigger no. Therefore, this is a film which generally felt entirely unnecessary and since it was such a forgettable film that entirely failed to justify its existence, this felt like a giant middle finger to everyone who saw it.

This could be one of cinema's worst origin stories, since it barely even qualifies as such and shows Leatherface's first killing spree and nothing else. As well as being utterly bankrupt on a narrative level, it's also a woefully unscary film that, like so many horror films from its era, coasts along on jump scares and gore, not atmosphere or suspense.

Thankfully no more films were made in this particular continuity, but still, the franchise currently isn't doing great. It's definitely time for Leatherface to hang up the chainsaw for good.
