This 1986 teen film has been described as a 'tragicomedy' and you will both laugh and cry while watching it. Everyone can relate to the pain of liking somebody and not having them like you back and Lucas explores that feeling to great effect. Lucas (Corey Haim) is a smart 14 year old kid who falls a girl (Kerri Green) who is two years older than him. She in turn falls in love with the star of the football team (a pre-cocaine abusing Charlie Sheen). It's a simple story but it's done well. Much of the credit deserves to go to the cast which includes Winona Ryder in her first film role. As it is, Lucas is one of the most underrated high school films of all time.
