15 Most Underrated 1980's Movies You Must See

5. Midnight Run (1988)

All right, maybe Midnight Run isn't 'underrated' as a film but, in the grand scheme of things, it is definitely under-appreciated. No independent or cult film, Midnight Run was a fully-blown studio film with a $30m budget and huge star Robert De Niro. It adds a neat twist on the buddy film as bounty hunter De Niro tries to bring the the Mafia-embezzling Charles Grodin to the police but grows to like and understand the wanted criminal. Midnight Run is a lot of fun and the chemistry between Grodin and De Niro is undeniable. To see their relationship grow on screen is a treat and by the end you can't help but be emotionally invested in them, And to think studio executives wanted Cher for one of the main roles. Yikes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1_N28DA3gY
