9. Point Break

The Pitch: A remake of the classic Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves-starring 1991 actioner, in which rookie cop Johnny Utah (Luke Bracey) is tasked with infiltrating an extreme sports ring, led by handsome daredevil Bodhi (Edgar Ramirez), which may be behind a series of bank robberies. Why It Could Score 0%: Remaking an iconic film is always going to rub up critics the wrong way, and this retread has the added handicaps of lacking two stars as compelling as Swayze and Reeves, not to mention that it looks like an incredibly bland, by-the-numbers retread of what came before with a ton of extreme sports chases thrown in just for the sake of it. From the first trailer, everyone looks pretty bored, it appears to be incredibly politically heavy-handed, the focus on extreme sports feels at least a decade too late (xXx did it just fine back in 2002), the CGI is laughable, it seems to be taking itself far too seriously, and it's hard to escape the vibe that this is going to end up just like the Red Dawn remake, bombing hard and quickly being forgotten.
