15 Upcoming Movies That Are Already Doomed (And Why)
6. Solo: A Star Wars Story
Release Date: May 25, 2018
Why It's Doomed: There's zero chance the Han Solo spin-off movie is anything but a box office smash, but its quality? That's a whole other debate.
For starters, many fans feel that a Han Solo movie by its nature will be excessively pandering to fans, given the likelihood it will overtly demystify the character and explain things like the origin of his name and what the Kessel Run actually was.
Then there's the film's extremely rough production history, with producers apparently not being happy with Alden Ehrenreich's performance as the title character, and eventually firing directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller for clashing with the established style of the new Star Wars movies.
Ron Howard then joined the production as a safe and utterly uninspired choice, and with recent reports suggesting that he may have reshot up to 80% of the movie, it's hard to expect much more from this than a fan service-heavy, also-ran entry to the Star Wars universe.
Best to keep your expectations low and maybe, just maybe, this will be Rush Ron Howard rather than The Da Vinci Code Ron Howard. But probably not.
