15 Upcoming Movies That Are Essentially Rip-Offs

6. Michelle Darnell Rips Off... Get Hard

The Original Movie: Wealthy hedge fund manager James King (Will Ferrell) is arrested for fraud and embezzlement and sentenced to 10 years in prison. With 30 days to get his affairs in order, he enlists the help of his black car washer, Darnell Lewis (Kevin Hart), to prepare for life inside the slammer. However, the twist is that Darnell has never been in jail, nor does he adhere to the various black stereotypes that James believes him to. In the interest of scoring a huge payday, though, Darnell thoroughly plays up to the role. James meanwhile has to deal with everyone he supposedly defrauded baying for his blood, as well as the prospect that he was framed for his criminal activity. The Ripoff: Michelle Darnell (Melissa McCarthy) is a businesswoman sent to prison for insider trading, and upon emerging from jail, she tries to re-brand herself, though the various victims of her actions haven't forgotten what she did, and are out for sweet revenge. Both movies are keenly lampooning the recent financial meltdown and general public disgust at white-collar crime, with an A-list comic actor playing a seeming douchebag business magnate who inevitably goes on to redeem themselves.
