15 Upcoming Movies That Might Be Surprisingly Awesome

Release Date: July 13
Why It Should Suck: On the face of it, this is basically "The Rock does Die Hard", and while there's nothing inherently wrong with that, the marketing suggests this is going to be nothing more than a trashy, quick-and-easy B-movie imitation.
The CGI looks legitimately quite awful, and there's little doubt that every major plot beat will be predictable long ahead of time. Plus, it's being written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (Central Intelligence), who is hardly an inspired choice for a project like this.
Why It Might Be Awesome: There's definitely something to be said for a movie that knows what it is and delivers accordingly, and with The Rock front-and-center, it's possible this could end up the escapist thrill-ride surprise of the summer.
Giving Johnson's character a false leg is an interesting wrinkle, and the movie clearly has no pretensions to being a serious piece of entertainment, so if Thurber strikes the right tone, he could serve up a snappy, adrenaline-pumping ride well worth your time.
