10. The Predator

Why It Should Suck: The first trailer for The Predator wasn't particularly well-received by fans, who noted the disappointingly generic style and tone of the movie, namely the perfunctory introduction of a bigger, "better" Predator hybrid and a goofy, child-centric premise which could so easily tank the whole thing.

Since then, reports have emerged that the movie has been scathingly received in test screenings, and recent re-shoots have almost completely re-shaped the third act in an attempt to salvage it. Hmmm.

Why It Might Be Awesome: Given Shane Black's track record as a director - all three of his movies (Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, Iron Man 3 and The Nice Guys) are certified fresh critically - it's easy enough to give him the benefit of the doubt here.

The Predator franchise is clearly near and dear to his heart, and given the mastery of tone he's shown on his prior movies, it's not that easy to unreservedly believe he's served up a stinker here.

The evidence to the contrary admittedly isn't that convincing beyond "just trust Shane Black", but given Fox's desire to relaunch The Predator as a blockbuster franchise, they're not going to let it suck without a hard fight.
