9. Robert De Niro - The War With Grandpa

The Role: Ed, a grandfather who is forced to move in with one of his children and share a room with his grandson, Peter (Oakes Fegley). Peter, fed up with his grandpa's presence, devises a series of fast-escalating pranks to convince Ed to move out.

Why He'll Be Wasted: Let's consider just how many times Robert De Niro has appeared in a family film and it's actually worked out for the best. Furthermore, though the movie being adapted from a novel will work in his favour, it's still unlikely that it needs the talents of one of the most legendary actors in the history of cinema.

It just seems like low-hanging fruit for such a brilliant actor, but that very much seems to be De Niro's M.O. these days. He's got his legacy well-cemented, so now he's focusing on having fun, which is good for him, but basically sucks for his fans. At least Martin Scorsese's The Irishman starts shooting soon(ish).
