Doug Liman sure does like to keep himself busy, having started shooting this adaptation of Patrick Ness' acclaimed young adult trilogy shortly after his film The Wall hit cinemas earlier in the summer, and before his most recent effort, Tom Cruise's American Made, had even been released.

It was reasonable to expect Liman to take a break after filming those two projects in fairly quick succession, but instead, he decided to hurl himself into one of his most ambitious projects to date, a $125 million sci-fi blockbuster starring Tom Holland, Daisy Ridley, Mads Mikkelsen and David Oyelowo.

Considering that some have deemed the novels to be "unfilmable", it's certainly interesting to see the production chugging along so quickly, but as Liman has just one verifiable dud to his name (Jumper, also a novel adaptation), it's easy to expect big things from him here.
