15 Weirdest Cult Films Of All Time

4. Naked Lunch

William S. Burroughs 1959 novel Naked Lunch was deemed unfilmable by most who read it but that didn't stop noted weirdo director David Cronenberg having a go. It would take too long to summarise the entirety of the convoluted plot but, needless to say, the film is like watching one long hallucination as main character William Lee imagines all sorts of weird and not so wonderful creatures after being exposed to bug powder and other various mind-altering drugs. Naked Lunch takes two or three watches to truly make sense of it all and, even then, there are no guarantees that it will become any clearer. Worth watching anyway for the Mugwumps, giant insect typewriters and botched William Tell routines.
