Kill List is a hard film to define. The film split audiences and critics because of its genre-jumping manner and the fact that the film takes a radically different turn during the final third. Part mystery, part road movie, Kill List constantly defies audience expectation and is genuinely disturbing. The tension that builds during the film is palpable and makes for uncomfortable viewing. In fact, many critics noted that they could not watch the film in a cinema because they felt overwhelmed by what was on screen. Yes, Kill List is a weird film. You go in expecting one thing and it turns into something else. The finale, with the reveal of the mystery cult, comes completely out of left field - it's cult film in the making in more ways than one.
