15 Weirdest Ever Batman Movie Tie-In Toys
11. Sky Escape Joker - Batman
Someone at Kenner reached into their memory back in the late '80s and recalled that a Batman villain used an umbrella, then stuck that concept onto the Joker.
That's ok, though, as Penguin would get his moment in the spotlight a few years later.
According to the box art, Joker was supposed to use this 'whirling copter pack' to 'escape from trouble.' This maybe could have worked at the end of Batman, when the Joker was waiting to be picked up from the roof of the cathedral, but at no other point in the film did Joker try to duck out in any way that a portable helicopter would be just the thing.
Also, the copter pack is poorly engineered at best - would you want a whirling blade working at full speed just a few inches above your head?
The other feature of this toy is a bit nightmare-inducing. When you dunked Joker's head in cold water, the white face paint went away, reverting to the 'normal' flesh tone. Hit it again with warmer water, and the white came back. That meant if you let the figure dry normally, Jack would slowly, agonizingly turn into the Joker.
Kinda renders the bright neon colours of the copter pack moot.
