Rock'Em Sock'Em Robots is a classic toy with a simple premise : two people on opposite sides of the table hold controls and frantically push the 'punch' button until they hit the sweet spot on their opponent's robot and make the head pop up.

When Batman and Superman were finally going to be on screen together, someone had the not unreasonable idea of substituting robots with two of the most popular superheroes ever, and letting kids punch it out to answer for themselves the age old question : who would win a fight between two loosely attached giant action figures if you were allowed to move your character all over the place?

The original Rock'Em Sock'Em Robots were attached to a base so that the players were limited to the same area. This modern Batman / Superman version did away with that and allows the characters to move around, making the art of getting a knockout as much a function of slamming the figures together as it does any punching skill.

Considering the state of interactivity in video games, it's difficult to picture any kids giving this fairly linear toy any more than a few minutes, just long enough to make a TikTok video.
