The first time you see Hogwarts in the Philosopher's Stone, theres no other word to describe it except magical. Though it might be more magical than just having shifting staircases.

Multiple times throughout the films, the castle has multiple major additions, most obvious being the massive wooden bridge in the Prisoner of Azkaban, a giant clock tower with a mini garden outside, and Hagrid's Hut being moved further away from the castle.

If that didn't mess with your bearings enough, it was altered again in the Order of the Phoenix, adding a huge stone bridge leading to the main courtyard, the entrance to the Great Hall was moved and Hagrid's Hut was moved again.

There's been so many changes to the general layout of the castle it's practically unrecognisable from what it was over the ten years the series ran. Yeah, it's a magical school but a bit of consistency would be nice.
