15 Weirdest Movies Of 2016
3. Warcraft
Warcraft is a game with a lot of lore and backstory, so you’d expect the big screen version to tone things down and ease newcomers into it; nope. It drops you into the middle of the human/orc conflict and rarely pauses for breath to fill in the blanks.
Still, it’s strange to see a fantasy film where the story gives just as much time to fleshing out the smelly Orcs as it does the human cast. It’s also odd to have a mainstream film this fundamentally nerdy get made without being severely dumbed down. This might be why it didn’t do great business in the America, but it was lapped by China, who helped turned it into the most successful video game movie of all time.
Despite the lack of warmth in America, it will likely receive a sequel; one that will be a bit more user-friendly to the uninitiated.
