15 Worst Horror Films Of The 21st Century (So Far)

13. Hollow

Hollow Movie

Following The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity, 21st century horror has been dominated by subpar found footage movies. At its worst, this first person gimmick is just an excuse to not show anything and to point the camera at the characters' feet for 90 minutes, and that's exactly what Hollow ends up being. The movie follows the mystery of an evil, haunted tree, and four "friends" trying to get to the bottom of it. The leads are unlikable the entire way through - they're constantly bickering, and every second dealing with relationship drama is cringeworthy. The biggest issue, though, is that nearly 100% of the scares are fake outs. The characters will be walking along, things get quiet, and then suddenly a bird flies out and startles you. Scary, right? Hollow is a whole movie of that, and never do the real scares actually begin. If the poster of the skull in a tree intrigued you, prepare to be let down, as in the film it's just a regular tree. The poster is a total lie, and the closest the movie has to a tangible villain is a lead character's jacket. Hollow is the bottom of the found footage barrel. Let's hope it never gets this bad again.
