15 Worst MCU Villains (So Far)

12. Laufey - Thor

Iron Man 2 Whiplash
Marvel Studios

2011's Thor might've delivered the first great MCU villain in the form of Loki (Tom Hiddleston), but its supporting antagonist is a hell of a lot weaker.

Big CGI aliens rarely make for compelling villains and while there are exceptions - most notably Thanos (Josh Brolin), who's by far the best Marvel movie villain of all time - Laufey (Colm Feore), the king of the Frost Giants (a race which have an antagonistic relationship with Asgard), isn't one of them.

Laufey is a very blandly-written character who seemed like nothing more than a placeholder to tide things over until the real villain emerged and once that happened, Loki quickly killed Laufey as part of his scheme. Therefore, Laufey really was just a plot device and nothing more.

Colm Feore's performance is absolutely solid, but his work can't quite prevent the character from being a total bore.
