15 Worst Movie Moments Of 2017

5. Ellen Page's Random Death - Flatliners

The Flatliners remake/sequel/reboot/whatever was a bad movie pretty much from start to finish, though it's ironic that the one vaguely surprising scene in the entire movie is also its worst.

At the end of the second act, protagonist Courtney (Ellen Page) finds herself startled by visions of her sister Tessa, who died in a car accident Courtney herself caused. This has been the sole motivation for Courtney flatlining in the first place, and after running to the fire escape to get away from the vision of her sister, Tessa appears once again, causing Courtney to fall to her death.

Considering that Page gives by far the best performance in the film (not that it's saying much), to off her totally out of nowhere with half-an-hour to go was not a clever idea. Unexpected? Yes, but from this point the cast struggles even more to make sense or even basic entertainment value out of the terrible script.

At least Courtney's death should've had some real meaning or emotion behind it, but instead the whole scene plays out like she's a totally inconsequential character.
