Just as with Nicolas Cage, there's a very real, very direct correlation between how awful his hair-piece is and the final quality of the film it stars in. So, judging solely by the late '90s, grown-up Pearl Jam wavy look, coupled with an improbably terrible "beard" and insistent nice-guy/douche-bag clothes, you can get a real sense of precisely what The Forger is.

Playing cinema's least convincing art forger/petty criminal, Travolta wades through a preposterous heist flick along with his father (Christopher Plummer) and son (Tye Sheridan), sliding between soulful arty nice good guy and supreme bad-ass. That neither side of the character is believable in the slightest makes it hard to take any of the film seriously.

If you watch it for perverse enjoyment at how terrible the acting is, there's some merit, but the lasting questions are why anyone cast Travolta, and why nobody then woke him up for the performance.
