Won For: Best Song

You can claim that "Lose Yourself" is one of Eminem's most blistering tracks all you like, but it's no more than a tub-thumping anthem for middle aged men to psyche themselves up to go to their plumbing job and imagine there's a bigger space in the universe for them. Sure, it has an infectious knack for getting under your skin, but it cannot do anything to elevate the film it was released for out of mediocrity.

And for all that Eminem spits impressive lines on the track - and at times in the film - the rags to riches rise of the most comically named rapper of all - B-Rabbit - is not a great showcase of his acting skill. It does show off Michael Shannon's excellent range, but aside from a few stand-out moments, it ranks somewhere below Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in terms of authentic, engaging story-telling.
