15 Worst Superhero Movie Moments Since 2000
3. X-Men - Dark Phoenix: Worst. Franchise. Ending. Ever?
The X-Men franchise, while it doesn't have a five-star entry (save for perhaps Logan), has been a strong film franchise overall with more good entries than bad ones so it's rather heart-breaking to see its narrative end so terribly with X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which is easily the franchise's worst film.
The film's final scenes, which show Beast taking over the academy, Jean Grey turning into a weird phoenix (or something) and Professor X and Magneto randomly playing chess, are not only highly underwhelming and dull, but they don't provide closure for the characters or solve the franchise's big issues (such as the mutants' place in the world) at all.
This ending is perfectly representative of the general issues with Dark Phoenix: it's just a rushed, indifferent way to end Fox's X-Men franchise before the characters are revived in the MCU. Hopefully that'll restore the X-Men to their former glory.
