11. Viola Davis Wins Best Supporting Actress Thanks To Category Fraud

Viola Davis has been winning just about every Best Supporting Actress award on her way to the Oscars, and though she undeniably gives a phenomenal performance in Fences, she's being campaigned as a supporting actress despite the part being a lead.

It's common for studios to campaign lead actors in the "lesser" supporting category to give them a greater chance of winning an award, but it does take away some of the glory considering it's basically cheating and deprives the supporting category of an actual, rightful nominee.

So, while Davis was excellent in the film, she really should've been in the Best Actress race, considering her performance is arguably better than Emma Stone's, who has been cleaning up the field all season.
