Because there's always room for a little tenderness in cinema, even in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, Miller couldn't help but hint at a love story in the making. Smartly avoiding a forced hookup between Max and Furiosa, the love-in is instead between Nux and one of Joe's wives, Queen Capable (Riley Keough). They share an easy bond from the outset and have a particularly memorable moment when Nux feels guilt over partly causing the death of Joe's pregnant wife, which Capable consoles him for. Of course, it all ends in tragedy, as when Nux sacrifices himself to block the canyon by crashing the Rig, he and Capable share one final, fleeting glimpse, with Nux hoping that they might see each other again one day in Valhalla. It's not at all forced but simply a case of two people finding closeness in an extreme situation, not lingered on but nevertheless adding depth to the two characters.
