16 Critically Dismissed Recent Movies (That Weren't As Bad As You Think)
8. RED 2
Rotten Tomatoes: 44% (Average Score: 5.44/10)
Critical Consensus: While it's still hard to argue with its impeccable cast or the fun they often seem to be having, Red 2 replaces much of the goofy fun of its predecessor with empty, over-the-top bombast.
This is one of the most underrated blockbuster sequels of the 2010s. It's not as good as its highly enjoyable predecessor since it's lighter on the comedy, but it is still a hell of a lot of fun.
Aside from Bruce Willis, who phones it in (like he usually does these days), the cast does a very good job and Red 2 also boasts many creative, thoroughly enjoyable action sequences that are notable for the way they make consistently great use of their surroundings.
It might've dialled down on the comedy and that was a disadvantage, but that certainly doesn't make Red 2 a bad movie at all. As an action film, this packs a considerable punch.
