16 Deleted Comic Book Movie Scenes You're Not Allowed To See

4. Lau Burning - The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight is a far less violent film than it immediately appears: Christopher Nolan makes use of suggestion and off-screen violence to make sure that the film was given a PG-13 classification but still looked pretty grim. It was all about atmosphere.

But he did almost include one scene that would never have made it past the censors: when The Joker burns the mob cash, he puts their accountant Lau on the top and it's suggested he's burned alive. Originally, Nolan included a graphic image of him sitting ablaze atop the pile.

Why It Was Cut

The scene obviously didn't fit with Warner Bros and Nolan's desire for a PG-13 rating, so it hit the floor of the edit room, never to be seen again.

And if you're wondering why it wasn't ever released as a Special Feature, it comes back to Nolan not feeling like cut scenes deserve to be seen.
