Rob Zombie's two Halloween films left a sour taste in a lot of people's mouths, but let's not forget that before that he brought us the magnificent House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects. The Lords of Salem was a decent effort, but 31 looks like it could be a complete return to form for Zombie. It's about time.

In 31, five carnival workers are kidnapped the night before Halloween. They wake up the next day only to find themselves trapped in a compound known as Murder World. They have to play a game their captors call 31, where they must survive for 12 hours on Halloween while being hunted down by a bunch of evil clowns.

Already that premise combines so many awesome horror elements including taking place in one location, kidnappings, twisted games, a countdown clock, and scary clowns. Rob Zombie fans will instantly be reminded of Captain Spaulding, but this movie does not take place in the same universe as House of 1000 Corpses.

Zombie said that the film was inspired by the statistic that Halloween is the day of the year when the highest number of people go missing. He also described 31 as "very nasty, gritty, guerrilla style," which definitely sounds like a throwback to why fans fell in love with him in the first place.
