16 Intriguing Indie Films To Watch Out For In Spring 2014

15. Enemy

Plot: "A man seeks out his exact look-alike after spotting him in a movie." - IMDb Director Denis Villeneuve may not be a very recognizable name to film buffs everywhere, but this should be the film that officially puts him on everyone's radar. Surely, you have heard of his previous film Prisoners, a two-and-a-half hour thriller which starred Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman and came out last Fall. Prisoners was a decent-sized hit with both critics and audiences alike, but it's a much more mainstream effort compared to this upcoming film. Enemy stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Melanie Laurent, Isabella Rosellini, and Sarah Gadon. This film was actually shot before Prisoners and from the looks of things, it's way more twisted. Enemy received a lot of positive notices when it premiered at last year's Toronto International Film Festival. Film.com's David Ehrlich, in particular, cited the film as having one of "the scariest endings ever made." Does that hype it up too much? Perhaps, but it's nice to see Villeneuve attempt to inject new life into the thriller genre. US release date: March 14th
