13. Blood Ties
Plot: "Two brothers, on either side of the law, face off over organized crime in Brooklyn during the 1970s." - IMDb After initially making his mark with such French films as Tell No One and Little White Lies, actor/director Guillaume Canet has decided to make his English-language debut with Blood Ties. Between the movie poster and the film's trailer, the director's affinity for 1970s American crime films is definitely apparent here. Leading the film is Clive Owen, who is joined by Mila Kunis, Zoe Saldana, James Caan, and Billy Crudup. We haven't seen much of Clive Owen or Billy Crudup lately so hopefully this can be the film that shows us what we've been missing all these years. Having first premiered at last year's Cannes Film Festival, and then in Toronto a few months later, the praise for Blood Ties has been rather muted. The film definitely has its champions though with Owen Gleiberman of Entertainment Weekly noting, "The movie takes its time, and it's two-and-a-half hours long, but if you roll with it, it pays off." US release date: March 21st
