16 Movie Characters Who Were Killed For Being Clichés

1. Gwen Stacy - The Amazing Spider-Man 2

The Cliche: She's a walking, talking morality tale. If you're even remotely familiar with the most famous Spider-Man comics, there's a good chance you might have known that Gwen Stacy was going to die at the end of Marc Webb's Spidey sequel, given that set photos leaked about a year ago of Emma Stone wearing the EXACT same costume Stacy is wearing when she dies in the comics. Still, that one might have passed you by - but it becomes clear that young Gwen is not long for this Earth as the film unwinds, as Webb is careful to make sure that we know that she is the only thing that really matters to Peter Parker. Even when he's mourning the loss of his Uncle, or uncovering the secret of his father, or trying to ignore the disproving ghost of her father, Peter only has eyes for Gwen. Which is precisely why she has to die. She's so loved and so important to everything Peter does that there's literally no way she could ever have survived. Are there any other characters who died because they were little more than cliches? Share your own picks below in the comments thread.
