The Pitch: A found footage horror film set within the horrifyingly unique locale of Paris' labyrinthine underground catacombs.

What Happened?: Don't feel bad if you don't even remember this 2014 horror flick which quickly came and went without much fanfare, because as brilliantly eerie as its setting was, it suffered from extremely annoying characters and a wildly unnecessary divergence into supernatural territory.

The simple, stripped-down horror of getting lost in an underground maze was more than enough to sustain a tight, 90-minute thrill-ride, yet writer-director John Erick Dowdle couldn't help but fatally overextend his premise.

The popularity of urban myths online about people getting lost and dying in the Paris and Odessa Catacombs is proof enough the movie didn't need any other affectations, which ultimately detract from the sense of grounded, palpable terror.
