17 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy The Fast & Furious Franchise

7. Watching The Earlier Movies Is Kinda Painful Now

Despite being just a little over a decade old, the earlier Fast and Furious movies sure are products of their time...and then some. For starters, Rob Cohen, director of the first movie, is no Justin Lin in the visuals department, and in comparison to the more recent work on the series, this and 2 Fast 2 Furious play out like cheesy racer movies from the 1970s. Then there's appearances from the likes of Ja Rule and Bow Wow, soundtracks featuring Limp Bizkit, and other bizarre cultural carry-overs that make one think in retrospect, "How was this s*** ever popular in the first place!?" Justin Lin has done such a splendid job with the last two movies that watching the first four is actually quite the challenge now: they haven't stood the short test of time particularly well at all.
