The film which inspired Martin Scorsese's Oscar-winning The Departed (which is a remake), Infernal Affairs is generally considered to be one of the best, most influential films to ever come out of Hong Kong, and it remains the highest rated Hong Kong film on the IMDb's top 250 Films of All Time list. Unfolding just as complex and masterfully as the Scorsese version, there is a consensus among a growing number of admirers that the original is actually the superior film. While that's not quite the case - naturally it doesn't have the aesthetic or acting talent of the Scorsese version - Infernal Affairs can still sit proudly alongside the only film to bring Martin Scorsese a Best Director Oscar, the original every bit as taut and tense as The Departed.
