17 Most Shameless Product Placements in Movies

2. The Wizard - Nintendo Power Glove

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfyxWhwia90 No list of this sort is complete without mentioning The Wizard, a film so literally indebted to its product placement that the film would pretty much grind to a halt without them. Many have half-jokingly referred to it as a feature-length ad for Nintendo's product line, and they're not at all wrong; the film revolves around Fred Savage kidnapping his disabled brother, and together the pair set off on a quest...of some kind. What's memorable is how many Nintendo products figure in the plot, most notably the Power Glove (featured above), and of course, the world debut of Super Mario Bros 3, which would go on to become one of the most successful video games in history. It's particularly infuriating because long sections of the film - as in the above video - merely consist of a locked-off camera focusing on a kid playing the game, or close-ups of the game itself; it's the ultimate in crass cinema, exploiting not only the children wanting to see what Super Mario 3 looks like, but the kids starring in it, too. We dare you to try and watch the film with a straight face, or better yet, not bother at all.
