17 Movies That Critics And Fans Just Didn't Agree On

17. Ghostbusters

IMDB Score: 5.3

Anyone who even remotely followed the production and release of Paul Feig's gender-swapped Ghostbusters reboot will remember just how upset many fans - and a large swathe of sexists, too - were about the movie even being made.

Viewed by some as a pandering, lazy attempt to rejuvenate a classic property, while others simply used the movie's middling quality as an excuse to attack women, Ghostbusters nevertheless scored a surprisingly high 6.5 from critics, with a 73% critical consensus.

Some have insisted that critics went easy on the movie for "PC reasons", but what's truly interesting is when you look a little closer at the IMDB metrics: a ridiculous 17.4% of the movie's votes were 1/10 scores. Clearly, that's far more of an agenda at work than anything on the critical side.

Ironically, this is a case where both critics and audiences were off the mark. If you split the difference in the middle, Ghostbusters 2016 is really just a dead average 6/10 movie.
