17 Stupid Mistakes That Somehow Made It Into 2016 Movies

16. Spock's Incorrect Rank - Star Trek Beyond

After young Spock (Zachary Quinto) is notified of the death of Spock Prime (Leonard Nimoy), he's handed a tablet which displays a memorial image.

This is all well and good until you glance over at the text on the bottom-left, which lists him as "Second Officer - USS Enterprise", which is odd considering that any Trekkie worth their salt knows that Spock was in fact the First Officer.

It's a weird mistake given how finicky the filmmakers know Trekkies to be, though if you asked them about it, one suspects they'd come up with a convoluted timeline-related reason for Spock's rank being altered.

Either way, it's not cool.
