17 Subtle Star Wars Easter Eggs And References In Other Movies

16. A Few Years From Now, In A Galaxy Almost Like This One - The Fifth Element (1997)

Luc Besson€™s sci-fi classic The Fifth Element is littered with Star Wars influence throughout, from the mimicking of the scene from The Empire Strikes Back in which Imperial Stormtroopers help Boba Fett carry Han€™s frozen body out of Cloud City, to a female major straight up copying Leia€™s iconic A New Hope hairstyle. Despite the film having a more familiar setting in 23rd century New York City, the events closely resemble those happening in a galaxy far, far away. The monk Vito Cornelius (shown above) bears a striking similarity to Obi-Wan Kenobi, not only in appearance but in that he is a deus-ex-machina in the corner of the film€™s protagonist, as well as one of the last followers of an ancient code. Also, the design of the federal battleships is remarkably similar to that of the Imperial Star Destroyers, Plavalaguna closely resembles a Twi'lek and Mangalores sounds a hell of lot like Mandalore.
