17 Things You Didn't Know About Austin Powers

3. The Critics Are Not United

With a few exceptions, most film trilogies tend to have an obvious order of the best to worst films in the trilogy. The Austin Powers trilogy is a bit of an exception to that though with the critics being divided on which film is the best and which film is the worst. To look at the critical acclaim of the series there are two sites to visit, Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. Rotten Tomatoes listed International Man of Mystery fresh at 70 per cent positive reviews as the highest rated Austin Powers movie. Second is Goldmember which ranks rotten at 54 per cent positive reviews and then in last is The Spy Who Shagged Me at 51 per cent. Metacritc however disagrees with Goldmember been rated the highest at 62 per cent, then The Spy Who Shagged Me in second with 59 per cent and finally International Man of Mystery being rated 51 per cent. So strangely there appears to be no critical consensus on what it the best Austin Powers film and what is the worst. Personally I would go for Goldmember but to each their own.
