17 WTF Moments From Star Wars: The Force Awakens

12. Supreme Leader Snoke Is Really, Really Big

One of the most intriguing mysteries surrounding The Force Awakens is the presence of Supreme Leader Snoke, the big, big bad played by Andy Serkis via the marvel of performance capture. Though Snoke's appearance has already earned a share of flak from early viewers for being the most blatantly CGI element of the movie, what's most shocking is just how freaking big the guy is...sorta. We only see him briefly in a few scenes scattered throughout, either talking to General Hux or Kylo Ren, and each time he's seen in a dark, mysterious throne room of sorts, towering possibly 40 or 50 feet in the air as he sits down and talks to the pair. A literal giant? Is some of that prequel awfulness leaking in? Thankfully not: the end of Snoke's first scene reveals that we're only seeing a hologram of him, so we'll have to wait and see how tall he actually is.
