Warren is of course soon introduced to fellow bounty hunter John Ruth (Kurt Russell) and outlaw Daisy Domergue (Jennfier Jason Leigh). Most of the movie's acting praise has been directed at Leigh and with good reason: she gets put through the wringer far more than her male counterparts, at least as far as physical abuse is concerned. Whether it's being slapped in the face by Ruth or Warren, or having hot stew thrown in her face, bloody vomit sprayed all over her or brain matter fired into her hair, she takes it like a champ, and the image of Leigh's blood-soaked face is probably the most vivid, dream-haunting visual in the entire film. Unsurprisingly there's already been some backlash about how she's treated in the movie, but common sense can swat this away pretty damn quick. Will Leigh win an Oscar for her work? We'll have to wait and see, but as anyone who has seen the movie knows, she's absolutely a front-runner.
