It's not unusual for QT to reference his previous movies in his latest, and The Hateful Eight is no exception. Once the stagecoach arrives at Minnie's Habberdashery, Ruth announces his suspicions that some of the occupants aren't who they say they are, and someone wants to stop him transporting Daisy to Red Rock. He then goes about collecting the guns of everyone in the establishment, including Joe Gage (Michael Madsen). When Ruth assures him that he'll protect him should anything break out, Gage replies, "A b***ard's work is never done, huh, John Ruth?", a blatant reference to the widely-used tagline for Inglourious Basterds: "A basterd's work is never done."
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
