18 Crucial Questions For 2015's Most Anticipated Movies
8. Does Kung Fu Panda 3 Take Everyone On A Feels Trip?
Release Date: December 23rd After delivering a solid first movie, Kung Fu Panda 2 did what any great sequel does and expanded significantly on its protagonist and his origins, delivering a surprisingly affecting finale in which Po (Jack Black) reconciles with his adoptive goose father Mr. Ping (James Hong). The final scene of the movie, however, shows Po's biological father in a far-off land, somehow realising that his son is alive, a brilliant teaser leaving fans eager for part three. Though little is known about Kung Fu Panda 3, it's widely believed that Bryan Cranston will be voicing Po's father, which is pretty much enough to get giddily excited about what could easily be the most emotional of the three movies. Seeing Po finally reunited with his "real" father while having to delicately navigate the inevitable impact this will have on Mr. Ping should make for some compelling, uncommonly mature drama in a children's film. Verdict: If the filmmakers can continue to ride the wave they set-up in the second film, then this could easily be the best of the three and another classically affecting animated flick. Cranston's (apparent) casting as the dad will only help sell the drama.
