18 Crucial Questions For 2016's Most Anticipated Movies
14. Is Hail, Caesar! Already An Awards Failure?
The Question: With its early February release date and fairly soft marketing campaign so far, could the Coen Brothers' latest be The Monuments Men of 2016: a movie that, on paper, should be a masterpiece, but just doesn't come together in the editing room? The Likely Answer: The gut feeling is that Hail, Caesar! is a "lesser" Coen Bros. movie, more a Burn After Reading rather than a No Country for Old Men, a smaller film that's probably going to prove a little more divisive because of its silly screwball comedy tone, but, at the same time, it's likely still going to be one of the better-reviewed films of the first few months of 2016. Then again, consider that The Grand Budapest Hotel came out in March 2014 and ended up with nine Oscar nods, including Best Picture and Best Director, so who knows?
