Frequently, The Fast And The Furious films rely on actual, real-life drivers (besides their actors who are great at driving) as technical consultants, to make sure they're filming stuff properly and depicting the cars accurately, and in many cases to work as actual stunt drivers. In the case of Tokyo Drift, they mainly relied on Rhys Millen, his father Rod, and a handful of other famous rally and drift racers to do most of the drift sequences in the film. It's one thing having Paul Walker do a powerslide into a large empty space, it's another to have a fleet of people skidding down a mountain side and not flying off the side. If you wanna know how dangerous drifting is, know that Toyo donated 4000 tires for the movie. 4000. That's how messed up those poor treads were getting as they squealed along the Tokyo tarmac. As has become something of a tradition for the films, the younger Millen actually gets a proper appearance in the film. Whereas most of Tokyo Drift's stunt drivers are purposefully obscured, cos you're meant to believe it's Bow Wow or whoever doing all those sweet manoeuvres, you do actually get to see Rhys as one of the drivers in one of the many, many races throughout the film's running time.
