The Role: Alex, a young soldier caught in the middle of a Hellish battle during World War II's Dunkirk evacuation.

Why It's Unexpected: Harry Styles is, of course, best known as a member of pop group One Direction, but even accepting him venturing into movie roles, who would've expected him to end up in a Christopher Nolan movie right off the bat?

Will It Work?: Though a lot of people are skeptical of Styles' casting being anything more than a stunt, Nolan's camp insists he won the part on merit, and from the look of the trailers, he doesn't stick out egregiously or anything.

As part of an ensemble, he'll probably be fine, if viewers can hang up their preconceptions.
