18 Insanely Messed Up Movies You Might Not Be Able To Handle

4. I Spit On Your Grave

Another one of the most controversial films of all time, this is a rape-revenge movie in which a writer is brutally gang-raped; she subsequently wreaks a gruesome revenge on the men who attacked her.

I Spit on Your Grave is not getting any less unpleasant with age. Featuring a series of rapes that take up literally around 30 minutes of screen-time and gory revenge sequences that include a man being castrated in a bath, this is truly nasty cinema. One of the rapist characters is also mentally disabled and the film treats him in an extremely uncomfortable manner.

The film continues to provoke a lot of debate, with some seeing it as a feminist film and others seeing it as misogynistic and problematic but in all honesty, whatever way you interpret it, it remains a vile, sickening piece of trash. Aside from a collection of solid performances I Spit on Your Grave has little to no artistic merit and is never truly thought-provoking or insightful on the subject of sexual violence, instead settling for just being a compilation of violence and death.

It's better to avoid this one. Additionally, don't go anywhere near the godawful sequel that was released in 2019.
